Let Baby Bucks Grow
Letting baby deer grow like this one is part of the management program. Here at our OUTDOOR PARTNERS camp a buck must have 8 points and an inside spread of 15 inches and OR gross score 120 P&Y to meet the camp requirements that are enforced with a $500 fine. Our requirements have worked well for those doing their first trophy whitetail hunt and those seasoned hunters. What we find is that hunters tend to raise their own standards after they harvest a buck or two so while our standards maybe somewhat lower than some outfitters its working well for us.
Our hunters on average are harvesting low 140 to mid 140 class bucks supporting the fact that many hunters hold themselves to a higher standard. But that will be there choice we want hunters here at camp to have plenty of opportunity to see the type bucks they can harvest if they elect to do so and not sit for days letting bucks pass by that would be a trophy on their wall. The fact is there are plenty of 130 class bucks and sure those that will make the 125 min for P&Y and actually we have very few bucks taken that don't hit that P&Y number.
